About the festival
The festival of tomorrow’s wines
Grrrabuge is an independent festival organised by a non-profit association and lovingly brought to life by a team of volunteers.
Our mission is to champion a desirable future for wine that respects biodiversity and living things, from vine to glass. The festival promotes farming practices that protect biodiversity, support the ecological transition and break with industrial exploitation.
Because choosing to work with living things rather than against them means challenging a destructive model that depletes soils, impoverishes biodiversity and disrupts the ecosystems on which it depends.
Because moving away from monoculture and bringing diversity back into vineyards means making resilience a practice, not a slogan.
Because rejecting standardisation means defending the diversity of soils, grape varieties, flavours and ways of working.
Because making wine differently means taking back control from an agro-industrial model that makes farmers dependent on seeds, machinery and crop protection products.
Because supporting a small-scale winemaker means choosing a different model: against the concentration of land ownership and uniform landscapes, for small-scale farming that sustains local communities.
Because the question is not just how we produce wine, but what kind of world we want to continue producing it in.
And because we also need to ask: - Who can access these wines? - Who can still make a living from the vine? - What are the limits of our practices? - What place should alcohol have in our society?
Natural wine is not free from paradoxes and contradictions.
It is a space for resistance, experimentation and debate.
A way of reminding us that our agricultural, economic and cultural choices are never neutral.
